Hi! I’m Jan and I recently graduated from college, double majoring in Psychology and Economics. I’m from Astoria, Queens and learned about COMY through a team member on a local campaign. I started fostering kittens in July of 2021, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Growing up, I had fish, parakeets, and bunnies, but I never got the chance to have a cat or kitten of my own. I was really grateful that my best friend had a cat ever since we were in elementary school. Being at her place only confirmed my love for cats. At the ripe age of 22, I decided it was finally time to bring some of my own furry friends home. I showed up with my first two foster kittens out of the blue, and we all fell in love with having kittens in the apartment. I adopted from COMY soon after, and ultimately became part of the cat rescue cult. In addition to fostering, I’ve been managing our adoption, fostering, outreach, fundraising and media initiatives. In my spare time, I like to explore NYC, do artwork, and check out the newest Thai spots nearby. Joining COMY has been life changing. My passion for helping cats has only increased since then. I have been learning a lot about NYC’s stray cat population, lack of affordable resources, and various medical terminology. Knowing how helpless these cats are and how flawed the system is what fuels me to do my very best.

I started working with Cats of Meow York fka CCF in November 2020 on a spay/neuter day and never looked back and never been happier. Working in cat rescue has given me a family I never knew I needed and I’ve grown so much because of the experiences this has given me. Some of my hobbies include reading, working (lol), picking up random cats on the street and learning new languages. I’m a native New Yorker hailing from the Bronx and I currently work at Sony Music! Seeing how many animals we save, how many people we make happy, and how much of a community we can build through cat rescue are three of my biggest motivators. 3/4 of my own cats are COMY alumni and I’ve placed countless cats in happy homes. I love the family I have here. My COMY family and all of these cats have gotten me through some really hard times, and I’m forever grateful.

Hi my name is Yani! I have been involved with cats all my life, I began feeding stray/feral cats as a kid, then got introduced to TNR. I’m from South Jamaica, Queens, and it’s an amazing feeling to see that we are making an impact. The past few years have allowed me to invest more of my time helping community cats. In my free time I enjoy riding my bike, doing my nails lol, trying new recipes & spending time with my family & fur babies!! What motivates me at Cats of Meow York's HQ is seeing cats go from scared, hungry & hurt to blossoming into such loving and outgoing cats ready for their forever homes. Being here the past couple of years has taught me so much about cats, their behaviors, vetting & how to educate our neighbors about spay/neuter/TNR ♥️

My name is Daniella. Growing up, I thought I wanted to work with animals, maybe even be a vet. Naturally I started working at clinics where very quickly I discovered working with animals means working with people. This was when I discovered my passion for people’s health as well as their animals, which are often intertwined. When I’m not busy working in the public health field for humans, I spend my spare time volunteering for animals. My grandmother was born in Ecuador and she had a soft spot for animals her whole life. In my entire family we have over 50 pets! She is my motivation for everything rescue related. Although she passed away last year, by fostering and volunteering with rescues I feel like that’s my way of keeping her kind spirit alive through my work. Lastly, fostering is the most rewarding experience. Knowing the animals you cared for and loved will go on to homes that will love them for years to come is the best feeling in the world!
